The woman named Fazlu Bibi had a big mango tree in the yard of her house. Fazlu Bibi used to entertain fakir-monks with that mango (hence another name of this mango is Fakirbhog). Fazlu Bibi gave him a mango to eat instead of water. After eating the mango, the collector asked him the name of the mango in English.

Characteristics of Fazli Mango

This Fazli mango is usually 13.8 cm in length, 9.5 cm in width. Average weight is usually 600-650 grams. But a Fazli mango can weigh 1 kg or more. Fazli mangoes are long, somewhat flattened and thin-skinned. Fazli mangoes range from dark green to dark green as they mature when young. At the time of ripening, the color of the skin, especially the upper part, becomes light yellow. Shas is yellow, seedless, juicy, aromatic, tasty and sweet. The average sweetness of this mango is around 17-18 percent. The edible amount of this mango is 60-65 percent.

In our country, mainly the Chapainawabganj district produces Fazli Mango. However, high quality Fazli mangoes are grown on a large scale in Baga and Sargat districts. Shapais Fazli is tall. Normally, the price of Fazli mango is around Tk 60 to Tk 100 per kg in regular season.Fazli mangoes are found in the eastern part of South Asia, especially in Bangladesh and West Bengal and Bihar in India. Chapai of Bangladesh is found in almost all regions of the country including Nawabganj Rajshahi, Naoga, Natore, Dinajpur, Satkhira. However, Fazli mangoes of Chapainawabganj and Rajshahi regions are the most famous, famous and high quality.
