Morphology of Spinach

Spinach (scientific name: Spinacia oleracea) is a type of flowering plant in the Amaranthaceae family. It is a popular vegetable. It is native to Central and Southwest Asia. Also it is an annual plant, but biennial spinach can be, although rare. These plants grow up to 30 cm tall. It is cultivated in Bangladesh in winter.

Its leaves are alternate, simple, ovate or triangular. The size of these leaves can be 2-30 cm long and 1-15 cm wide. The leaves at the base of the plant are large and the leaves at the top are small. Its flowers are yellowish white, 3-4 mm in diameter. Its fruits are small, hard, granular and clustered. Fruit size 5-10 mm across; It contains several seeds.

The earliest records of descriptions of spinach are found in China. It is said that this plant came to China from Nepal (probably 647 AD).

How to eat Spinach?

Spinach can be eaten cooked. Among them there are fried vegetables, chachchari, chinchki, various delicious recipes with cheese, various padas with fish etc. Apart from that, it can be eaten boiled, salad, soup or juice.
