Teasel gourd is small to medium in size, with an average diameter of 1 to 3 centimeters and a length of 2 to 7 centimeters. They are ovally elongated, tapering to a small point at the non-stem end. The surface of the squash is covered with a thick layer of soft, flexible spines, and each squash is connected to a long, thin, flexible green stem. Pumpkins mature from dark green to light green, eventually developing yellow-tipped panicles over time. Also, when you squeeze the pumpkin, it feels a little firm. When overripe, the pumpkin becomes a deep orange color. Beneath the spiny surface, the pulp is white to green, crisp, watery, and spongy, containing a few to a few small cream-to-brown seeds. As ripening progresses, the flesh around the seeds turns bright red, indicating that the fruit is overripe. People consume it at the green stage. It has a splash of yellow and a more bitter hue. When you cut the squash, it exudes fresh green aromas and a mild, sweet, bitter, woody, and vegetal taste.
