Sweet Pumpkin (scientific name Cucurbita moschata) belongs to Cucurbitaceae family. It is a type of fruit vegetable. It is also known as sweet gourd. The sweet pumpkin plant is native to Central America or northern South America. Besides Cucurbita moschata, there are several other species of sweet pumpkin; Such as Cucurbita mixta, C. pepo, C. maxima, C. alba, C. moschata and their various varieties and cultivars. Among these, C. moschata is most common in Bangladesh. Sweet pumpkins are chubby round and have a bright orange interior when ripe. It contains vitamin A and beta carotene and is mainly eaten cooked in curries. Also has a slightly sweet taste.
